Default used SE air cleaner kit

I just received my used SE kit today and wondering what I should do about the grease, etc. Seems like it should be cleaned or degreased before I put it on. Any suggestions?

I would think you could clean it just like a K&N filter. Here's what I do with my K&N on my truck

brush any lose dirt off it first ( I have a soft bristled paint brush that works great)
soak it really well with a cleaner/degreaser. Let sit 5-10 minutes.
rinse it off from inside out till the water runs clean.
Let air dry overnight
Install and ride on!

is the filter washable? if so get a kit from auto zone for K&N and you get the cleaner and the oil. Will last a few years

Where's the grease? is it on the backplate or the filter?

There is oil buildup on the backplate in places where it probably shouldnt be....will just clean it good with a good degreaser.

be careful as some engine de-greaser will ruin the finish
