I thought it was just my old turd with the derned things cranked into oblivion....

Swapped the stockers out for a set of stainless allen heads during my primary cover install.

Don't bother replacing the Torx T27's on the derby cover. Use 1/4 x 20 x 1/2 Stainless Allen heads. Use Never Seize, Anti-Seize or similar on the machine screws. Problem solved and they are the same size as the other Allen heads on the primary cover. Also, while at it, the primary chain inspection cover uses two 1/4 x 20 x 2 1/2, and two 1/4 x 20 x 5/8. Makes for easy adjustments in the future, and no discoloration.

Oh, but if you want to replace the Torx T27's, a pack of five is part number 25913-99.

Torq is not only based on weight but also leverage.....Months ago, I was trying to remove my fender struts,,,, Heat was a help but also a good set of torq sockets, and used a 4"extension on the wrench they came off with no problems,,, when I tryed the standard length, no luck! and you will get better leverage and lbs to make them move, If you wrenched them with a short craftsman, and $9.99 torq sockets I see how you stripped them.
Sorry to see you had a f--ked up day..... chalk it up to lessons learned...

Yes, that was my sentiment as well ^^^^

I am happy it's behind me and I did learn some stuff. I will polish out the minor scratches and get on with my riding!

Sorry, guys, just needed to vent!

The same happened to me, 3 out of 5 stripped. I drilled out the heads and used visegrips the remove the studs. the dealer had some lying around they just gave me to replace the stripped ones. I orderd crome replacements and changed all of them to chrome. I'm glad it worked out for you. Don't be afraid to ask the techs to hook you up if you're in a bind. I find they're usually more than happy to help.
