first on my list for demo days is a v-rod... if I could have 5 harleys one would probably be a v-rod.

I'll be the first "No" vote to post up why:

I don't consider it a 'true' Harley any more than I do the old Aermacchi's. Just because it has the emblem on the tank doesn't mean much to me. Of course the V-Rod has more 'Harley' in it, since they helped design it, but I consider it more Porsche than Harley.

My reasoning may be strange, because I consider a Buell to pretty much be a Harley product.

If the MoCo would put a V-Rod motor in an Ultra style bike (for distance riding for both rider and passenger) I'd be the first in line. The motor has already proven itself, but needs a 6 speed OD tranny.

Careful what you wish for, powaypete. With the heavy hand of the EPA strangling Harly as it is now. The only non-pushrod engine that has any future for them is the V-ROD engine and maybe the new Buell proprietary 140 + HP engine for the Sportsters. Now, I can live with that!

There is a certain appeal to the primitive nature of a big air-cooled twin..... it's primal. (but don't get me wrong, there is a tonne of modern technology in there). The "perception" of the stereotype Harley does not include V-Rods IMHO. Sure, it's made by Harley, but I think it's inception was more to satisfy shareholders, and to tap into the market conditions. They're sweet, and the have a certain market for sure. Top 5 for me? Nope! Just my 2-cents worth.... not trying to ruffle any feathers here. I'm kinda new on here, but I make an effort..... J.R.

No Way! I even consider Sportster not to be "TRUE HARLEYS"

If the Transmission is in the same case as the engine, it ain't a True Harley.

I too have heard a rumor that this may be coming down the line in the near future.

I also do consider the V-Rod a true Harley. Looking back on the history since the beginning Harley has been through changes and the V-Rod just show a different era and a new design to Harley history. I also don't see how anybody can't consider the Sportster a true Harley since it is Harley longest running model, I think the Sporty has proven itself over the years. It was the first bike I ever owned and I still think they are fun to ride.
