One of the best carbs of the early 1980's. I still run one on my '49 Pan. Biggest problem with the B's was the lack of an accelerator pump and they stuck out pretty far. You didn't say what kind of bike you have, but you can probably find something a little more up to date, like a Super E.

Run a Super B on my 48 pan. I ran it years ago but took it off and put a Bendix on for the accelerator pump. Made it a lot easier to start. Just put it back on. Super B's are good once you get them dialed in correctly. They perform really well and I really haven't had any problems with them. One thing with mine it will pop thru the carb until it warms up. Once it's warm it runs great. Don't know what type of bike you have but if you're sold on S&S I'd recommend a Super E for the accelarator pump and response when you hit the throttle. I actually have one on the bench that I'm going to install once I make a spacer since I want to run the stock air cleaner. You also might want to look at a Mikuni. They are good carbs. Hope this helps.
