Be very careful when IR for Temp readings. If the surface is at all shinny you will not get an accurate reading with out putting a piece of black tape on it. With the style of temp reader you have distance plays a big on what kind of reading you will get. I knew that Thermography class would come in usefull!

no, it is what i read with ir temp reader at the cooling fins. the chrome top is about 120 to 130. the heat shields are about 120 to 140. the exhaust temp is about 240 to 340. tire temp is about 110 after a ride. the temp reader are bout $20 at the local hobby shop.
thanks for the info. yes i read it across the surface instead of at it so i can read the heat radiated and not the surface temp. it works well on coffee and your ear temp and makes for fun reading friends to see if they are HOT (female friends)
