Great write up. I was wondering how these are done. Gotta go order them in black for my train now. 1 question do you have to drain the tank first

No need to drain the tank. the wires go through a tube in the tank, so you never actually get close to any of the fuel.

thing to note that if you do need to if you need to remove the tank, you just need to unbolt the tank and slide it backwards (towards the seat). You do not need to unhook the tank completely. Just remember to cover the cylinder heads with something to avoid them from getting scratched.

I also want to add the black set to my 07 train but the HD catalog states they are for 08 and up. They have a chorme set for 07 but not in black, WTF! Dosn't the factory know that black is the new chorme. Anyone know what the difference is and can I still make it work?

Great job, Mordraph. Now I'm inspired to move that up my list. Thanx.

I put mine on a 09 so no help there with the older models...if memory serves right they only added these somewhere in 07 or maybe even 06 to their catalog

Other than maybe the wiring I can't think of why they should not work on any of the older EFI models. Don't think the tank shape change much.
