Default Sportster to a Heritage Softail

Hi,

Today I bought a Heritage Classic. I love the look of Softails. ( I’ll get it first warm day. )
Last October I took a Heritage for a demo ride..10-15 minutes. It was smooth. ...but difficult to tell much more in such a short ride.

After riding a Sportster for 3 years (1200 Custom) I’m concerned I’ll find this Heritage big and bulky feeling....not as nimble maybe...I guess I’m afraid it won’t be as much ‘fun’ to ride.

I know I worry everything ‘to death’ and I’m sure I’ll find many advantages.
But I sure do love my Sportster and unfortunately I need to trade it in for the new ride. I can’t afford to have both.

Anybody here go from a Sportster to a Heritage ( or any Softail Model) ?

What were your impressions in the differences between the two?

Thanks....I would appreciate any comments

You are going to love the smooth feel of that counter-balanced engine on the Softail. I can understand where you are coming from. I had similar feelings when I took on a touring bike after owning my Softail Deluxe for 4 years. After just a few trips you will not even remember the differences.

I'd say after the first couple of rides, you'll forget you even had a Sporty.

Heritage sits lower and has great balance. You'll love it.

Just did the same thing. Traded my 07 1200L in on a 09 Deluxe. Picked it up last Saturday and when I first got on it to leave I said "Oh ****". Was very surprised at how fast I got use to it. Had it 1 week now and doesnt feel big now. Like someone said before, it is so balanced that stop signs are a breeze. Rides so smooth and in my opinion handles great. I still love the sportsters but this bike is so nice. Wife is a lot happier now so life is good. Take care.

I just traded a nightster for a night train. I love it! It's as nimble as my nightster ever was and with twice the comfort.

Enjoy your new bike!

I traded in my Nightster in January. No worries about handling the bigger bike. IMO the Deluxe is much easier to ride.
