Default Back rest question

In an effort to make the little lady happy and to keep the bike looking "cool" . After I put the fat bob fender and the Kuryakyn strut mount lights on my bike, I want to put a detachable back rest on the bike. I have found some deals on some but I think they may be to wide. The center bolts on the side are 9 1/4" from center to center. My question is, does anyone know how wide the back rest needs to be? Does it need to be the same as a regular bolt on or a little wider for the mounting hardware. My bike is the one below 1995 FXSTC.

Unless you have made some changes, its hard to go wrong with the HD setup.

Got to agree with Deadman. The stock set up is functional, a good fit and looks good.

Just my .02 but I like the minimal look of the Haulin *** backrest.
The harley set up just looks way too bulky and unnecessary IMO.

I like the Haulin *** setup as well. Might switch over to one when I can afford it.

I know they're a sponser on here... "hauling ***" but I don't care for them, but thats just me... Larry, here's my ride with the sissy bar on for the wife at this years toy run. I went with a tall one for comfort for the wife and straping things to it...
