Make a Heritage more like Deluxe
#11
I stepped in from the Bagger porch just for a minute. The OL wants me to buy her a bike. She sits on every bike in the dealer and decides she only likes the way a deluxe feels when she sits on it. So I figure, it must be her being quirky but sure enough it does seem to feel fairly different in comfort from the Fatboy and Heritage.
So now back to being the bagger guy who has to pay for this.
Is there a way to make a heritage feel like a deluxe? What is different between the two, bars, seat, or something else.
It just seems less expensive to get her a heritage, than buy a deluxe and add bags, windshield, pillion, etc.
Help a recession stricken bagger guy help the economy!

For a girl if they are very short, a Deluxe is a nice bike for them. If'n I remember right the Deluxe sits closer to the ground also.

I think that main differences pullback risers, the contoured seat, not 100% if they have diff shocks to add more to the lower ride position.
To add a different arguement into your conundrum....what type of riding do you guys do? If you do a lot of touring, long rides and such, get her the heritage and start by changing seat and risers. If you don't do a lot of long rides get the delux and for now just add a windshield...you can fit everything into your bags for now. If you then still need to add bags you can then always still do that.
my (a**hole) opinion says heritage classic lol

I was in the exact position you are a month ago. She wanted the Deluxe and I was pushing the Heritage. Finally decided it was her bike so we bought the Deluxe and I have since put the windshield, crash bars, Heritage Bags and a different exhaust system (to be able to accomadate the Heritage Bags) on it. I still think it would have been easier to get a Heritage and Lower it but I have to admit, her bike is damn sharp looking.
