I took mine off but did not like the toe shifter being so far inward. What I did was took a chrome socket, 5\8" I think and cut it the thickness of the shifter shaft and it serves the purpose of a chrome spacer. Now I have the toe shifter in the right position and have a free chrome spacer. Oh did I mention free? lol

Welll back in the early 70's when bell bottoms where in style, I mean big bell bottoms. One time the leg blew up and over and on the kick starter.
did ya ever try to rip a pair of pants out sideways at the bottom,
At the next stop, I had one helpless, sick feeling as I went over.....
I didn't have to go to the hospital but the bike needed some new parts....

for some reason I never wore loose legs pants again, EVER

My new bones was the first heel/toe shifter I had tried. Ithought I could probably get used to it but I found the heel shifter was right where I like to put my foot. I like to hang my heels over the back of the boards mostly. With the heel shifter in place the only spot I could put my foot was in between the heel/toe pegs. Too limited. I like to move my feet around. Removed the heel shifter and raised the toe shifter up about 1/2 inch and put a chrome cap on the spline. Now I'm as happy as a pig in ....

Info for Daddys_Limousine99 -

There is a cap available from HD to cover the spline when you remove the heel shifter. Here's a link http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I removed my heel shift lever and also replaced the toe lever with the billet lever for a Dyna or Softail FX http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US- it's a little longer and curved so it gives me a little bit more leg room. Also it matches the billet extended brake lever I installed to stretch my right leg out a bit.

I just lowered the heel shifter on my 'Bones so that it almost touches the floorboard when I shift. It seems better than the factory setting, but admittedly the jury is still out on whether I keep it on for the long haul.
