I love my heel shifter.

 

I use the heel shifter from to time when I have on nice shoes. I rode a quad for years deer hunting and for pleasure. it has floorboards. you never put down your leg on a quad. anyway, my Fatboy was the first motorcycle I had with floorboards. I will be damned if the first time I came up to a stop sign I forgot to put down my feet. I managed not to drop the thing. just kind a a funny story about muscle memory.
If I wore pants big enough to get around the heel shifter, regularly, for what ever reason, I would get some velcro wraps to hold my pant legs tight while riding.

Sorry to hear that but I love heel toe shifting, I found it hard to upshift on a floorboard.

 

I have had that happen too. I removed the stock rubber shifter peg and replaced it with a chrome HD one with almost no rubber on it. I have been okay since.

 

Had heel toe shifters for well over 20 years, never got my pant leg got in one, but I guess it could happen.

 

Loose the heel shifter. It is kind of like your appendix, You don't need it, and it can only cause problems later. I took mine off and put the chrome cap on too.

I don't think I said anything about skintight clothes or or you not ridin' to work. I think you should ride any time you can, as often as you can. And by all means wear what you feel comfortable in.

 

Hmm.......I have been riding with heel-toe shifters since the early-80's and never had a problem. They don't bother me at all. To each his own, I guess.

 

My one and only ride with the heel/toe hazard. Thew it in the trash. What a stupidly engineered design. It's always rubbijng right up against your boot.

Victory touring bikes have an awesome heel shifter design, it's at the very rear of the floorboard, and sits just slightly higher then the floorboard surface. All's you do is slide your heel rearwards and give a heel on the shift pad, works perfect.... (you listening Harley???.... Probably not).
