Do V&H Quiet Baffles take away HP?

When I had a softail with a cam the quiet baffles did seem to help the tq.
When I did a hot 95" build the stock baffles were better. I could of had it remapped for the quiets but chose to keep the standards.

It all depends on what you are after. If the biggest hp # on a dyno sheet is what you want, then yes over 5500 it will likely drop a few. On the other hand torque is your friend for normal riding. I choose torque. Since I set the limit on my softail to 5800 rpm, I'm ok with the quiet baffles effect on lower end torgue. This is on a stock engine, so a different build may behave differently.

HP is reduced but TQ is increased. That is why drag pipes dont have baffles on real drag bikes. They use high rpm and only need HP and not TQ. I has rush slip ons and lots of TQ, then went to hookers and have lots of HP. I could feel the drop in TQ. I added quiet baffles and if it ever stops raining i will let you know if the TQ went up as i wanted it to be.
