O.K....well i really want to do the phatail kit from performance machine... http://www.performancemachine.com/phatail.html ....but with that kit costing 3500....then about 2-3000 for rims and then paint...that seems kind of pricy.....what do you guys think...can i get that "phatail" look with the big 280 tire like they have in that picture on their site for cheaper somewhere....would a custom bike shop be a cheaper place? any help is appreciated....thanks!!!

I was in the same boat as you. I wanted to go with the fat back tire, but it's just so expensive! I passed. I'd just feel to guilty! Also, I didn't want to deal with the down-sided issues that a fat rear tire like poor handeling.

anything over a 200 tire and your gonna lose ride quality.and i think peformance machine kit
is a 240? it is alot of coin when you do a wide tire. keep it a harley!

1995 Softail Custom, 5,000 miles? If you spent more time riding instead of looking at your bike you wouldnt want a steamroller tire.
2000 FXSTB 60,000 miles now thats impressive!

Check out DM Customhttp://www.dmcustoms.net/ . They have a couple of wide tire kits. One kits puts a 200 tire on a stock swingarm. I just ordered, there is a 3-5 week wait for delivery.

Try Heartlandbiker.com
They have a 180/200 kit which I'm currently putting on
my Deuce and they also have a 250 kit. Great guys to
deal with and everything fits like a glove. I'll post some
pics as soon as shes all done.

P.S. I got the fender, strut and seat combo for $1250.00 usd

Check your local Harley Dealer. They should have their product book. THe cool thing about the kit is that if you want a passenger the pilon with a sissy bar attaches to the fender strut and there is a gap between the fender and pilon. You can take it off and replace the inserts on the fender strut.

Default RE:clearance issues

Hey nice ride,

Are you running a stock swingarm on your bike? if so what size belt are you running and what kind of clearance do have for tire and frame. I,m running stock swingarm and 3/4 belt with avon venom 200mm and have maybe a 1/4 clearance if that.

Thanks Rich

All these fat tail company kits are making a killing---KILLING--on bigger tires you can do yourself for about 1/3rd the price.
