Angry Shifting/clutch PITA

Since I changed the clutch cable (ape install) it is a PITA to shift the gears to neutral, it goes from 1st to 2nd and viceversa skipping "N"... no problem when the bike is turned off... Any of you have the same issue? You think it is a cable or a primary adjustment???

Mimo.

You need to put slack in the cable adjuster, open up the clutch cover. Break open the nut with an 11/16 socket. Use a 7/32 allen wrench, turn it in until you feel resistance, then back it off 1/2 a turn. Lock down the 11/16 nut. Pull the clutch lever make sure it is seated, then adjust the cable slack.

For me, it was a simple cable adjustment. I didn't have to crack anything open.

Stupid question, can't believe I am askin, but by "clutch cover" you are reffering to the derby cover on the primary (the one at the back) correct?

It's funny you posted the question Mimo, I started searching for this exacty topic last night. My bike has decided since the apes that it does not ever need to go into neutral. For real, I pull up to a gas station and go from 1st to 2nd at least 10-15 times before I get neutral. Never had the problem before.

You guys always have to do things the hard way.
The problem isn't in the cable or clutch adjustment, its the apes.
Get rid of them and your problems will go away with them.
