Thanks a lot for the pic. I'm getting ready to do the drop-in on my Deluxe and was wondering whether to go 3", or 2.5". Your pic helped me so I won't have to do it twice.

anytime man. let me know if you have any questions. oh, just a heads-up, if you take the tubes and sliders off, it's gonna feel mushy when put the kit in and you compress it. that's just the small (lowering) spring giving way. took me a few minutes for it to sink in. i thought i had done something wrong. and i used screamin' eagle heavy weight oil.

Time to resurrect this old thread, as I'm about to put my progressive front drop-ins on. My PVC is 4.5" and the directions say that is the correct size for the FXSTB. I noticed some of you guys cut yours down to 2.5" - 3"... This confuses me and when I called PRogressive, the tech said I could do it the esay drop-in style for my night train. Ummm, I just took my fork caps off and no springs popped out, so I guess not. I have some chrome lowers I want to put on as well, so I guess I'm going to do it from bottom up. Do I still need to access the top to completely get this drop-in kit on? I have the one advertised on their website now that drops it 2". Main spring, little spring, washer, pvc, washer, are the pieces in order I'm supposed to install from bottom up.

I have the service manual, but I don't want to start ripping stuff apart and winging it. Any steps, advice, or lessons learned would be helpful.

EDIT: Just watched the video on this thread and it has me pumped. I think I'm going to start taking it all apart. O_o

thanks!

Dale
