Default Crossbones question

hey all, i'm new here, been reading for a while and have decided to take the plunge and buy a harley. Been awhile since i've owned a motorcycle, been riding my family members or friends now and then, but none own a harley. Anywho....I went to the dealership and really like the crossbones, took it for a test and enjoyed it. The maintence guy however said really think about it, the springer front end has been nothing but problems and harley was thinking about doing away with it. Have any of yall heard anything like this? I'm gonna get it anyways, i aint afraid of a lil work, just wanna know what to expect.

There is a bit more in the way of scheduled maintenance but I've never heard of more problems with them compared to the regular front end.

That guy is high! I love my Cross Bones and not had a single issue with anything including the springer front end. Yes, is does require a bit more maintanence, but nothing to be concerned with. Get a manual and you can do it yourself. I am about as smart as a dog and I do my own wrenching.

yeah like the others have said above.

the truth is, is that springers are old technology compaired to forks so yes there is gonna be a little more maintainece on it butttttttttttttttt its not rediculous, new bushings ever 10,000 miles i think? shoot i gotta change my fork oil that often. i'm glad yr getting it, enjoy it, if we all wanted the new tech thats out there we wouldn't be riding harleys, air cooled, (in my case) EVO, belt drive, all this stuff could be changed for less maintanence who gives a F$*K gitter dune

7000 miles and no issues at all, actually rides very well. 4 500 mile days so far and am very happy with it. 5000 mile check up and oil changes just like all the other bikes, just one more thing to check. They do say do first sercice at 500 instead of 1000 but thats it.

The maintenance is about $150 more on the springer front end, just a part of owning one. But you won't regret getting one, they are awesome.

Like everyone has said. Springers just have a little more maintenance than a conventional front end. If I were you though, I would search for a new dealer because if their tech said springers have lots of problems, I wouldn't take it to him to service. Sounds like he doesn't know what he is doing. Besides, springers are the badest bikes around.
