Default What's Behind This Model's Name?

I have always admired the Softail line and especially the Deuce. I got my own 2006 Deuce last December and have had a ball with it. Now the STUPID question - where does the term "Deuce" on this particular model come from? What does it stand for, etc.?

Thanks!

The way I understand it, it comes from the 2" stretch in the backbone.

Heres all I got
# a tie in tennis or table tennis that requires winning two successive points to win the game
# two: the cardinal number that is the sum of one and one or a numeral representing this number
# devil: a word used in exclamations of confusion; "what the devil"; "the deuce with it"; "the dickens you say"
# one of the four playing cards in a deck that have two spots
The DEUCE was one of the earliest British commercially available computers, built by English Electric in the early 1950s
Deuce is one of the four primary characters in the prolific webcomic Jerkcity. His face has the appearance of a giant tiki mask with pronounced eyebrows. In addition to the absurd antics that define Jerkcity, Deuce's humor is sometimes vitriolic and bleak. He is also responsible for the occasional appearances of Esperanto in Jerkcity.
A game score when both players have at least 40 points and they are tied
The end of a domino with two dots.
nickname for a 1932 Ford.
Score of 2 on a hole.
a score of 2 on a hole. Example: "He pitched in for a deuce on the par four 7th."
Shorthand named for the number 2.

Is it true that the Deuce really has a 2" stretch in the backbone? I was always told that the only difference in frames is that the Deuce had a slightly wider rear section and different shaped horns. I know the tank is stretched but the seat is shorter to compensate.

Maybe deuce has something to do with the the model's first production year-2000. Like the second millenium maybe?

I read an article on this subject a few months ago surrounding the name of the Deuce.
I don't remember where or what rag it was in, but the name "Deuc" comes from nothing more than a name the board just seemed to like.
No real meaning other than that.

I too had heard that it refers to the first year/millenium of introduction...

Interesting responses. It would seem to make sense that a new model introduced in the year 2000 would be called a "Deuce". Also, the strecthed 2 inches may make sense. So, who the hell knows for sure?!? WTF. Maybe I'll just tell people it commerorates the night in 1968 when a won a sh_tpot full of money with a hand that only held a pair of deuces!

I'll probably do a little more research on this with the MOCO. When I get the definitive answer, I'll share the results. In the meantime, I contend they named it after my "great" poker hand!
