help! microfiber burned onto exhaust :(
#12
i use wd-40 or gasoline on a microfiber cloth with tons of elbow grease.....i don't use any abrasive pads or steel wool....if i need to chip something off that is hard like caked on tar or melted stuff like this i just wrap the microfiber cloth over a nickel and soak it in gas and gently rub it off the crome....never scratches. works every time.

just tried the easy oven off...let it sit for 5 min...nothing getting a bit worried here pipes are brand new. I hope I can fix it. I haven't tried wd40 yet or gas. Should I try that next? Do you think a heat gun and a buffing wheel might do the trick? I'm open for anything at this point.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Beleive me or not 0000 steel wool wont scratch crome and it will take it off with a little solvent og kerosene, gas will work too just dont have a smoke while your doin it. I have removed burnt microfiber and melted boot this way. Just make sure it is 4 ought wool. Very soft yet abrasive enough.

Oven cleaner!!!
Just used it this morning to remove melted bike cover from the pipes. I must have put the bike cover on last weekend after working on the bike and when pipes were still hot. Removed the cover this morning and my BSS pipes looked like s@#t!! I mean, they looked terrible with melted bike cover, including the weave print, on them. Sprayed the cold version of oven cleaner on them, let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then wiped off. Did this a couple times. Pipes look great again... Man, close call!!!

had about the same thing happen to a bike of mine some time back...was at a shop about something else and told the guy about some crap burnt on my pipes...he came out with a small butane torch and some fine steel wool...he heated up the area where the stuff was burnt on then wiped it with the steel wool...gone...have done the same thing for years and not once so much as a scrath...just be careful not to over heat the area it will turn it blue...just a quick heat up
