Default Embarrassing question about Fatboy forks

I am wondering...are the uppers of my 08 Fatty's forks chrome or polished stainless? I know that this is something I should be able to tell, but I can't and someone put doubt into my head about it. I am getting chrome lowers, and he was saying I may have to get uppers as well. It looks like chrome, but is it just polished stainless?

My 05 was polished stainless.

You need these to replace them.

Ok, just got a reply from the guy who has the lowers. He believes that there is a different part number for '07 and '08 models. He has the lowers for an '07. Gonna have to check with the dealership tomorrow I guess

The axle size is the same, but the lowers, and the front wheel on the 07 are offset. I changed my entire front end out to the 08 version, now I dont have to look at those ugly upper fork sliders, or that ugly offset front fender. As an added bonus my front tire is wearing more evenly.

harley says it is different. One is measured metric and the other in inches.
Hollow Axles: New 25 mm hollow axles are assembled with new bearings, spacers and sleeves inside the wheel.
They say if you use the 07 bearings you can use the 08 wheels. if you use 08 bearings then use the 08 axial.
Is your front axial 25mm or 3/4 in?

I have an 08 and the uppers are stainless steel.
I'm getting a chrome front end put on in March. I bought the HD chrome front end kit and it comes with uppers, lowers, and everything else that you need.

This wouldn't be the first time I've heard about HD telling a customer something wrong. I can tell you for a fact (because I did the work myself) that my 07 axle is still on my bike as we speak, and I have a 08 front wheel, bearings, and lower legs. Believe who you want, but unless you know someone else who has done this conversion (I don’t) if I were you I would take my word for it. I have no idea what size my front axle is; I only know that it fits.
