Default Need some advice on buying a '94 custom...

Locally there's a dealer with what looks to be a very clean, extremely low mileage (mid 3000) 1994 Custom for sale. What should I look for on a bike of that age? I've done a little research and am fairly mechanical but I don't know a ton. It's actually the very low mileage that worries me. It seems that sitting can be just as bad for an engine and other mechanicals as beating the hell out it. I ride the hell out my sportster now, but I need more space and a little more gunt. I also really like the Customs. Thanks for any help out there, I really appreciate it.

You say the bike is at a dealer. You ride now have 'em start it let it run for a while maybe outside. Pull a plug and see how its burning. Is the bike stock. See what they know about it. I would ask the guys over on the Evo section and do a search. I know there was some older Evos cracking somewhere on the engine but don't recall where.

94 softail custom with 3000 miles. Is it all stock? Different air cleaner much chrome details? They are probably asking 10k for it? You need to ask yourself what you want. A 20k twincam or a 10k EVO. I'd take the EVO myself but some say i might be partial to them. I bought mine with 6500 miles and plenty of bling in 98 and at 45k miles it still runs great. No major engine problems. I've done rocker boxes and inner primary gaskets. Other than that change oil and tires. jmho kent

Thanks for the replies guys. I haven't seen the bike in person yet, but from the pictures I've seen it is very close to stock. Looks like stock mufflers and all. My father in-law rode an evo for years and it never failed him. They dealer is asking 8,950 for the bike, I think it's a pretty good deal. I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if I hear anything else and bug the evo guys about some stuff. Thanks again.
