Default H-D 1, me 0 Project Fatboyfix in effect.

Well, I must admit HD has won, I think I have lost in my efforts to make them correct the issue with the 2007 Fatboy. I get the idea that this 07 will be my only new HD purchase.

I think at this point loosing my butt on a trade for a model 1-2 years younger than mine isnt sound either (much as Im determined to get an 08 Night train in the future and throw some apes on her.... muahahahahah!!!!!!!)

I have heard/read information that the lower front forks and rear swing arm were redesigned for 08 and 09 thus correcting the issue with the f'ed up 07 front axle offset.

I'll be doing research into this project and trying to collect part numbers from HD that will need to be swapped to correct this issue.

Does it suck 07 owners that are concerned with this have to go to these extremes to fix our bikes? Oh yeah.

But as countless HD owners before have done, if you dont like it break it till you do!

So if all you 07 owners are up for it, Id like to ask for your help. If you know of anything or hear of anything (parts, custom chassi mods etc.) that will get our bikes to the 08-09 standard please post it up!

Yeh, it sucks that HD will not stand behind their product enough to correct the offset issue on the 07 model.

Smarten Up HD!

How big of an issue is this? I rented an '07 about 18mos ago, rode it almost 300mi and did not notice any offset.

I think HD is being a 2bit ball busting crackhoar about this. With all the proof that you have shown, they should immediatley come clean and fix these Bikes. There is nothing to think about ,it's a frigg'in bad design flaw that they made.

Well, the front tire will wear severely on the right side. 300 miles isnt long enough to notice a tire scrubbing but about 2-3 thousand miles on a new front tire and the wear is noticeable. Shows you just where your front tire is contacting the pavement and when you see how FAR to the right it actually is, its a wonder you can even make a right turn safely!

Exactly why I passed on a great deal for an 07; waited for the 08 instead.

my front wore but only because it had a bad bearings. The fix is change the lowers to 08 and the spacers and the bearings. the part number for the rim is different only because it comes with the bearings.

tk, do you know if the front fender part number is still the same? I thought they also changed the swingarm offset as well.

fender is the same, i dont know if they changed that part number but it would not matter because it is the same width and hole mounts. i dont think they changed the swing arm in 08 as the parts are all the same. the swing arm was changed in 07 from 06

No route to file a safety complaint with the government?? Does lemon law cover such a thing?

Sucks that you are stuck with a really nice bike that isn't mechanically sound.

Move to Kansas and ride with the cross wind, it will wear the other side of the tire. That drove me crazy for 3 years when I had a sportbike there
