I replaced the hose clamp and everything is copacetic. Wipe the top of that flat strip and see if it's got oil on it.
that may be it, I have found some oil residue on that flat strip in the past, it's actually the only place I have found any residue at all. I have checked everything up there, I'll be back under it tonight. If I can't find anything, I'll just ride it. I'm installing the polished fender extension since I have the mudguard off already. Might as well take the opportunity to do another mod, LOL.

when iwas rebuilding my sportie i had it stripped to the frame in my kitchen. every day i had an oil drip on the floor. i still dont know where it was coming from. that frame leaked oil fer a year. and i wiped it down so much i nearly wiped the paint off.

I'm not worried about it. It has happened periodically for 3 years and has never gotten worse and I have never had a drop in any fluid level, plus there is no blow back anywhere on the bike that would indicate a serious leak. It's just annoying. If nothing else I get to get rid of that ugly plastic mud guard.

thanks for all the input. At some point, this bike will have the tins pulled for paint, the oil tank pulled for powdercoat (maybe) and the engine opened up for some more ponies, so if it needs fixed, it'll get it.

Sounds like you don't want to get your hands dirty and find the leak. Send the bike to me and I'll fix it

I run mine right on the full mark, no problems. I do this because it will run cooler & as the miles rack up after a change, the dirt will be more concentrated in a lesser amount of oil, thus more wear.
