Does anybody know if the quality of the handle bar/ cable kits that are on eBay are any good? There are some bars on there that are relatively cheap, but I'm thinking that's because the quality probably isn't the best. If I do it myself, how much $$$ am I looking at for a decent set of bars & cables? My bike is real nice for it's age,(99), but it's not a show bike, more of a go bike.

It depends on what you want. I paid Carlini $200 for my apes ( I got some blems) but the Carlini riser was $175 since I opted for 1.5" diameter bars. I could have bought some 1.25" bars and had a large choice in inexpensive risers. My total bill for bars, riser, cables, trans side cover gasket and trans lube was a little less than $600. I used sterling chromite cables and brake line; really nice stuff.

I bought my 12.5" Buffalo Bars from Drag Specialties through www.zanottimotor.com for $98.00. They also have 16" apes for the same price. I think they have gone up a little, but not much. They are 1 1/4" diameter and work with stock risers. My cables are Barnett cables which I bought from zanotti as well. All my parts cost me under $400.00, I think it was $375.00. It can be done cheaper than mentioned above. The carlini's are nice bars, but they are pricey. Also, going with 1 1/2" diameter bars means buying new risers and they can be expensive too. You also want to factor in some poly riser bushings which can be bought off ebay for $10-$15.

Mine are 1.25" brother, but you can go thicker 1.5" and get the risers for that diameter also from Carlini.

That's about the price range I'm looking at. I'm more concerned with the pull back than the height, as I just need get them closer to me. I was thinking about 16", but I do like the looks of your 12.5s. What's the pull back on yours?

They are 10" center width, 36" from grip to grip, 12.5" rise, and 12" pull back I think. Check the Drag Specialties cataloge. They are way more comfortable than stock. I love'em, thinking of going a bit taller, just for looks. Functionally, these are awesome. If you purchase through zanotti, they give a 20-25% discount. I got all my parts from them.

I'll probably just stick with the 1.25" bars, so I can keep my stock risers for now..

OEM clamps are 1" diameter brother. I have 1.25" because I changed them when I put on the HD thicker (1.25") beach bars... Personally I donīt like 1" bars I got used to the looks of thicker ones...
