the guy that comes up with the terms works in the legal dept. Today you really have to be careful what you call things. ...... Looks like it may be a typo

My boyfriend just bought what appears on the title as 1985 FXT. He said the same thing, what the heck is FXT, so I decided to go online to see what I could find out and I found this website. Doesn't appear to be an error.

That is why it cost less. One less letter costs less. Who knows.

I could be wrong, but I thought the FXT was the FX Touring model. Does it have a tour pac and saddlebags?

I have always sort of dissected the model names out of curiousity, in order to be able to tell what they were. For example, the FX models always had the narrower front ends, and the FL models had the wider, larger front ends. So in other words, the FXSTC = narrower front end, SofTail Custom.

I always thought the FXT was more of a Lowrider style bike with a factory tour pack........ sort of a narrow front end touring bike to appease the people that did not want the wider, larger, bulkier front ends, but still wanted a touring bike.

That was the FXRT. More of a super glide with the touring stuff.

I see a lot of listings for FXT when a search is done. Both for bikes and parts. Some list it as a softtail standard. Suprised the HD site does not have a catalog of all the bikes they have put out.

That is a state thing...when FXST came out, FXT was already in their system so they kept using it.If you carried it to another state and retitled it,it would be whatever is in their state. Just looked at my title....my FXST is titled as a 130.... go figure.
