Update. The 2nd dealer called me today and offered me either pipes and remap or in store credit 500 or 1,000 wouldn't tell me over the phone so I will go and meet with him tomorrow.I will try one more dealer though before making the deal. But a friend of mine got a 500 in store credit at this same dealer and had to use it the same day all at once that is bull**** I want a credit that I can use when I want.

Have a set price in mind and be prepared to walk out if you don't get it...someone else WILL sell you the bike for your price. I would offer 16K for a bare bones 09 Deluxe...believe me, it works. Not too many serious buyers are walking into Harley dealerships these days and that's not chump change to them. Walk out a couple times and you'll get your price.

Not sure that any dealer would go for $16,000 for an 09 Deluxe. A "bare bones" Deluxe goes for an MSRP of $17,779 (black only) Color is about 500 more and two-tone a few hundred more yet. That's no options. Common options added at purchase would be bags, a windshield, and often the better pillion than the stock brick and a detachable sissy bar and backrest. Maybe passenger footboards too. You can very quickly through an extra 2 grand on it (or any other HD) before you go "out the door". Oh, and as we all know, it never stops.

Send every H/D dealer you are willing to drive to and on the fax tell them exactly what you want let them bid against each other for it. That's the cheapest way to get one. Then sell your sporty out right. Come out ahead in the game. I guess you could email them too, this is 2009 isn't it.

I have talked with a lot of dealers and so far the best I have found is 17K + tax for a new black 09.

Go with the best price you get if you are comfortable with it. Just wait them out a little and see if they change, chances are they will move a little. Not too much id selling right now
