A lot depends on just how much bigger your planning on going.
If you visit the Metzler web site they list what they call a "stage 1" tire upgrade.
They have tested the largest tires that will fit a bike WITHOUT any modifications.
I know their 210mm rear tire is the largest that can be fitted to the rear of a bike that originally had a 200mm.
But I don't remember what the largest size fits the front of a Softy with a 21" wheel.

according to a chart on http://www.hdwheels.com/Product.htm the biggest you can do without modifications is a 120/70 21"... thinking about putting one on my '02 before spring. my friend has one on his '06 and it looks good and he says it feels better at higher speeds but i dunno if it would really make a diff... we'll see....

On the stock rim, I wouldn't go over a 90/90. The 120 is too wide for staying safe on the 2.15 rim. I'm running a 120 on a 3.5 rim on my '06 without issues. The 120 will not be covered by the stock fender and mods will need to done for it to even fit over the tire. I'm waiting for Metz to produce a 130 or 140 front tire. Either would be very cool!

I have a 150 Metzler on the front but I am thinking of going to a 120. Stock was 140. the 120 is the only size fatbook has in 17in radial and that is the only place my dealer buys from. The tires are free as I wont the chapter high mileage contest for chapter miles ridden. 9700 chapter event miles and 52 events
