Default Brake lights will not turn off

I have noticed that my brake light will not go off when I let go of the brake lever. So I took the brake assembly loose to find that the brake lever is not going back far enough to press the switch to turn off light. Has anyone else had this problem? Since I found this , a couple of friends with softails have noticed they have similar problems.

Could be that you need to rebuild the master cylinder assy.... Weakened/broken spring... Hanging plunger or cup.... MY 04 XL1200R's had a big problem with it.... Simple fix...

Thanks for your help. I bet you hit the nail on the head with the broken spring.
