Need to service the front end every 2500 miles. I would recommend the Neck bearing tool if you are going to do it yourself as it will save you from having to remove the handlebars.
If you are buying a used one make sure it has had the front end serviced regularly.

I love mine, haven't had any of the wobble problems mentioned by others and although it is a little heavy at low speeds in parking lots, I think it has a smother ride than a street glide.

I had a '99 and an '02 Heritage Springer. Great bikes no wobbles, not really any more handling problems (ground clearance) than a Fatboy or a Heritage. Front end feels a little heavier in turns (a lot more unsprung weight), but also feels more stable on the highway. Unless price difference is huge go for a TC model. The difference between a rigid mount EVO Softail and a B motor is significant. I just upgraded to an '08 Crossbones and it is even better still. Except for the sound (EFI just doesn't have it) and the fact that the touring mods I am making came standard on the Heritage.

Nope, neither are these owners And it's total hogwash on Springer wobble. They're no more prone to wobble than any other HD fork. The problem isn't the fork, it's issues the wheel, tire or both. I've had it with narrow glides, wide glides & springers & girders. Either a replacement or rebalance of the tire has always fixed it for me.

The "Springer Zombie Apocalypse" thread! Second only to the "What Oil Should I Use During the Mayan Doomsday?" thread!

Resurecting a 4 year old thread? No better reason than to talk about a springer!
