Default Luggage rack...heritage classic

I picked up a luggage rack for my heritage, and the instructions say to remove the screws from the sissy bar. it looks like i wont be able to get to the bottom two, without taking off the whole rail. for anybody thats done this, is it a pain in the *** ? or does it just look that way ?
Thanks

I have been there and done that. You have to take it all apart. Not hard, just take your time.

I just did mine today. You need to remove the rear two from each side of the bracket. You can then loosen the front one and swing the entire assembly forward. That way you can get at the four Torex screws that hold the sissy bar in place. Hope your screws come out easier than mine! I had to extract five of the six Torex screws/bolts from mine. Could not get then to loosen with out stripping the heads. Guess it was a combo of the lock tight they use and the soft metal.

I did mine with out any trouble. It just takes some time. Be sure to protect the rear fender when wrenching around. You could easily let somethng slip and cause a boo-boo (I did it on my tank...just a small ding...but it is a ding)

What the heck, as long as you have it apart, you might as well spend a couple hundred more and go for the quick disconnect side plates and docking hardware

Yea I had to take it all apart like the others said it is not hard just take you time and you'll be fine. I thought about getting the quick disconnect, but my wife was already mad (I just spent $300 in stuff that week) so I thought I would wait. I used a little thread lock so the screws didn't back out. good luck.

As IndyHSC said I would go ahead and get the quick detach. I ended up doing mine twice after I purchased the quick detach. It ain't hard, but takes some time.
