Default bars and bad shoulders

my father has an 04 Standard and has recently run into some shoulder problems. he has 11 inch rise street slammers and told me that they are bothering his shoulder. has anyone here had shoulder problems and found a comfortable set of bars for them? i would think that either some beach bars or mini apes would help him out... anyone have any suggestions??? thanks a bunch!!

Get a broom handle, have your father sit on his bike in a normal riding position, close his eyes, hold the broom handle in front of him in a comfortable position, and do all the measuring for him. You'll want height from the top of the triple trees, distance outside hand to outside hand, pullback from the trees, etc. You might do this a few different times to get the "best average". Afterwards, find some bars and risers to go with your measurements. You might even look to get custom bars made to fit him exactly.

That's a cool idea but I would be afraid that my brain would want to put my hands where my grips are now. How would get around that? A couple of beers first (no riding of course)?

I used this method after not being able to ride for a few days. Had the bike on the lift in an upright position and had the wife do some measuring for me. Each time, I was within about 3/4". Pretty cool way to check things out.
