I won't buy Avon's again. I had the same problem with sidewall cracking and the tires were less than a year old. I'm swapping tires this winter and will either go back to Dunlops or Metzlers.

Since I run about 10k a year, which will last the longest?

 

I was told that Michelin is selling motorcycles tires (although I found no reference on their web page). Anyone tried them? I've always had really good success with them on cars.

DUNLOPS suck lucky to get 5500 out of a back had avons b4 but am going to try METZLER now.

 

only got 4700 miles on the rear 880. went back to dunlop on the rear. I have 12000 on the front metzler and it should last to 15000 like the front dunlop did

 

Does the size of the tires have anything to do with the wear life we get?
I had the Metz 880 210 MM on my bike and only got 5K out of it then bad cupping and wear showed up. I will take partial responsibility for some of the lack of wear due to I only ran 42psi...tire sidewall said 48psi max.
But reading these threads I have noticed a pattern,,,I think. We that run the larger tires seem to get less wear than the tires that are smaller...i.e. 180MM and down.
