Forward?... not for me...

I just don't get it...

Guess maybe I'm just getting too damn old... ;-)

Yo Reverend...in your list of bikes you have a 2008 Fat Bob described as a costly mistake. What gives?

Err, yeah. Bought it before riding it with a fistful of money after the insurance payout from the 'Glide write-off & couldn't get on with loadsa stuff such as riding position, engine vibes & soft front brake. Found myself waking up at night fretting about whether or not I'd done the right thing.

Mrs Reverend's take on it was simple - if you don't enjoy it, you'll never ride it so sort it. Went back to dealer who, it must be said, was brilliant & gave me good trade in before too many miles were on it.

Spent three weeks riding the whole range, old & new & plumped for the Street Glide.

5000 miles later, it was boring. That old 'x' factor was missing, I was getting disillusioned with all the throttle re-sets, high tickovers, hard suspension & cramped riding position although I did run St Tropez to home in one trip on it & 874 miles in one hit can't be sneezed at. I just found it too bland, more BMW than HD.

Always had a hankerin' after high bars & fishtails, so after much soul & bank account searching I've finally got the 'Bones.

And d'you know what? I really, really like it.

It's different, quirky, you can make it so many different things but most of all it's unmistakably a Harley & that's what was missing.

That do ya?

The longer your arms are the more forward you will put the bars.

I like them a little forward , but only on baggers. Every thing else, in line with the forks.

Yes Reverend...thanks. I'm ordering a FatBob for next spring. Was wondering if there were any issues I should know about.

Mine are inline with the fork.
