The laced wheel option on my fatboy was $300.00. They still look brand new after 2.5 years, no corrosion. I have the 06 Fatboy (pre body style change) and it looks very similar to the Deluxe (or the Deluxe looks similar to the Fatboy, it did come first). I have mine lowered as well. I don't want the old school look and am really going for the meaner street cruiser look that anubiss mentioned above. Both are great choices, good luck.

I also looked at both bikes before deciding on a Deluxe, the turning point for me was the solid wheels on the Fatboy. I had talked to a few owners of Fats and they all confirmed in a cross wind the bike would almost get away from them, one guy lost his on the way back from the dealership when a tractor trailer passed him (this could have been driver error ???).
This is just one thing to factor in your decision. In no way am I dissing the Fatboy they are fine looking bikes, I'm sure you will hear from owners and their experiences.

Pffffttt! That comment makes me chuckle.
Well, I can tell you it wasn't because of the wheels... Aerodynamics of a solid wheel is no different than a spoked wheel at hwy speed. Do you really think air can pass through it? Turbulence from a big rig is extreme sometimes ... that wind would affect any bike ... solid wheels or not.
Body mass would be more of a factor than wheels! If they had a windshield or are carrying luggage or a passenger ... it would have increased the collective solid mass...which would escalate the problem...NOT THE WHEELS!
I'm just an idiot and I even know that!

I've heard it too. Man, you need to get rid of those solid wheels, they're dangerous. BullSh@T!!!!!! As with any vehicle a Semi will blow you around, all you have to do is get on the far side of the passing lane and PASS!!!!!!!! Wind affects your body on the motorcycle, not the wheels. Buy the bike you want and RIDE IT!!!!!!!!!!
