Default Ape install, pull or slide back the gas tank?

I am going to be installing apes on my 08 Night Train doing internal wiring. Some say pull the tank to get to the connectors, some say unbolt the tank and slide back. What should I do? If you slide it back how far will you be able to go back with it?

I slid mine back, much easier and no chance of dropping. Put a towel over the engine head covers so you don't scratch it.

If you have a place to set the tank, it's just as easy to pull it and have plenty of room to work. I pulled mine.

I just went through changing bars. I originally was going to slide it back, but after doing so it still looked to tight - NOT IMPOSSIBLE but to tight for me so went ahead and pulled it. Glad I did.

What is up with the fuel cross over line when removing the tank? Cut the factory clamp and use a hose clamp? Some say to cut the hose. Some say to upgrade to ss line. Does anyone even see this line normally?

Just changed the bars on a Deluxe. Tried moving the tank enough to run new throttle cables and ended up breaking the plastic fuel supply fitting. Should have just removed the tank in the first place.

I wouldn't change out the crossover line. It's not that noticeable.

really funny, I broke the plastic fuel supply line too. I tried to slide mine back and could not get to the connectors. The first thing I should of done was pop off the fuel line then removed the tank.

When removing I dropped the tank and got a small dent in it resulting in a new set of tins so pull it completely off. Do not prop up like I did.
