My favorite time to ride as the sun goes down and it starts to cool off. Last 1-2 hrs of light. In the zone!

Yeah any time after 5pm is great in the fall and I love riding towards the sun, feel great!

I heard riding in AZ in the afternoon is like facing a furnace, is it that bad?

In the afternoon (in summer), YES!! I'm just talking about the low desert areas. Much cooler in the elevated areas. So during the summer, you go for morning or evening rides. We do a lot of sunset rides heading towards a cooler area.
