I also agree with Mike, if you have a real warm leather jacket you might consider a vest intead of full jacket....sometimes I could use less bulk.
Of course you could always get a vest and a jacket.

I am really sad when ppl talk about heated gear, that means winter is coming soon.
The only heated gear I have is heated vest, it is a must, if you upper body is warm, your hands and arms will be warmer too. I also wear leather pants and jacket in extremely cold riding condition.

HD just made new battery operated heated gloves, the batteries are rechargeable, I might be interested getting a pair to try. To be honest, I hate wire my whole body for heated gear, not a christmas tree.

You are correct in that the HD gear is made by Gerbing. I have the full jacket, vest, pant liners, and gloves. The jacket is great in the winter, whereas too much for Spring and Fall. The vest does a fantastic job 3 seasons and I ususally carry it all the time in my bags. Plus 1 on the variable controller. The pant liners are very thin and easily fits under your pants without really adding much bulk. They do not put off much heat like the jacket and vest does, so I find that it is usually necessary to wear chaps over the jeans to keep the heat in. Gerbing has an EBay store that has good buys on some items. I bought my gloves there and saved about $50. I use the pigtail from my Battery Tender to power the controller and have the controller mounted via velcro on my center console at the seat. Jerry

I have Gerbing's jacket liner, gloves and just bought the heated overpants... I'm set for the winter... I use the harness that came with the gear wired to battery... and the dual controller...don't forget that...works great.

1 problem Jerry, if you use the pigtail from the tender you only get about half the heat from the vest. The fuse/wire thickness is different and the coat cant apparently draw the full amount of current thru it.

I know this seems backwards and the fuse should just blow out. It was described to me with more detail so that I believed it at the time and ran a second pigtail.

Just trying to help.

I also have Gerbing's jacket liner and classic gloves. I use a tank pouch to house the dual controller. I've ridden in 30 degree temps and the Gerbing gear performed great!
