Shoot, about 35 years ago I bought a '72 XLCH with no tach and a broken speedo. Bought her a couple beers, whispered a couple sweet nothings, and hit the road for >100,000 miles. Worked so well I did the same thing with a '78 FLH for >200,000 miles. Ditto for an '87 FLST aka Sloptail. She only has 130,000 and is getting a heart transplant, and a wee bit of plastic surgery. Meantime I'm squiring a Nightster.

Don't worry about getting to know her. Tell her you love her, slap her on her butt, straddle her, and hang on for the ride! You'll get to know her, but only as much as she lets you! Wimmens!!!!

I never got to know my engine...just took her for a ride and had my way with her! Or was that my high school girlfriend...hmmm so hazy now....
