Default help with costs

ok so here my problem..

im 18 years old and just started a job.
&nbsp\\;
i get my motorcycle license in about 3 months (after taking safety class)
&nbsp\\;
the bike that i have is a 92' heritage softail classic that my grandfather gave to me after he passed.
&nbsp\\;
this bike hasnt been ridden for about 3 years so what i wanted to know is.. what all do i need to have serviced. i want it to be fully inspected tires changed, oil changed, the whole shabang..
&nbsp\\;
can someone give me a list and tell me a figure of how much that would cost me total?

maybe check the service book , contact the dealer that had been servicing it previously , and ask him.... my guess is that if it hasn\\;t been riden for 3 yrs then it will need to be trailored .&nbsp\\; depending on storage may affect what needs to be checked/serviced.

I know a lot of member here do their own maintenance, so some would tell you to buy a service manual and do everything yourself.&nbsp\\; However, if you have limited to no experience, I'd trust none other than a pro for this round of maintenance, just to make sure no steps are skipped and that you have a safe bike that is properly serviced. After that you could pick up a manual and do the work yourself. Just my opinion, Im not saying its correct...

Welcome to the site good advice so far. Id go along and say take it to a good pro and if it costs a little more to do it right the first time try to bite the bullet and spend a little more. Got any pics?

You had a very thoughtful g-pa there. I have a grandaughter, maybe I'll do&nbsp\\;the same for if I haven't worn the Fatty out. Yah 3 years in storage is hard on a hog. Hopefully the tank was full with a fuel stabilizer. Empty they tend to get condensation and rust. The carbs may be gummed up too. If the tank rusted they can be cleaned and lined for around $200. You don't necessarily need a dealer but you should get it to a good motorcycle mech. Actually, avoid the dealer cause they cost a lot.
Tires will be around $300 installed. Oil change with filter&nbsp\\;about $50. Who knows what else but be prepared to spend $1000. Anything less is a bonus.
