Default Let's debate this again. Synthetic VS dino

This has probably been discussed ad-nausium, but I am considering switching to synthetic oil with 13,000 miles on my 06 FXSTI. My main concern would be leaks. Opinions?

Synthetic oil is proven to reduce friction, it is better in all catagories including viscosity (wich means it does not thin out as much when heated) so it is less likely to leak.

i switched at 4k because it handles heat better than dino.&nbsp\\; pleasantly surprised that it also lowered my oil temp 10-15 degrees.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; No leak concerns

Thanks for the replies. Will the 13,000 miles be a concern? I may be mis-informed, but it seems that I heard something about dino "swelling" the seals, and synthetic does not. My concern is that I waited too long to switch.

I switched at 13K. No problems. People will tell you all kinds of stupid s#it, read the research on this forum, there have to be millions of words on this subject.

I went to Syn3 at 1,000 miles. Will be switching on Friday (2,500 miles) to Mobile 1 for crankcase, Redline Heavy Shockproof for the Trans, and Redline MTL for the Primary.

Consistent 20 degree's cooler with Mobil1 over dino.&nbsp\\;I did get a base gasket leak when I first switched, but the machine shop really had to do some work to make&nbsp\\;flatten the bottom of the jug&nbsp\\;- so the oil didn't cause that.
