Default RPM Cruise Range

Where do you believe you spend most of your cruising time?

Default RE: RPM Cruise Range

So, I'm working through tuning my new TMAX, and it has given me pause to consider my riding habits more closely. In particular, trying to determine what the proper RPM range is to spend most of my time when just cruising around, looking to optimize mileage and engine load. I've noticed that I spend a lot of time running 2000 - 2500 RPM, but wonder if that is on the low side and maybe lugging the engine a bit more than I realized?

Since I put a tach on the bike I have noticed that I spend most of the time no matter what gear Im in between 2000 and 2500.&nbsp\\; If you go below 2000 its definatly lugging and spending a lot of time above 2500 seems uncomfortable. It doesn't vibrate more or anything its just a personal preference not to.
In sixth Im doing about 21 or 2200 at just around 70 so its all good.

I believe at hiway speeds the older 5 speeds hang out at around 2800-3000 and the newer 6 speeds are around 2500.

That is why people are saying not to use 6th gear until you are cruising because it puts you out of powerband.

I'm pretty consistent at 2500 - 3000 in any of the 5 gears. Everything sounds good at that speed. Of course I've been known to take it up to 5000 at times. I love to hear that 2:1 screaming.

Good info, I was wondering about the rpm cruising in 6th.&nbsp\\; No wonder the sucker gets 50 mpg....well we'll see what the power commander does.
