I did my 07 that way too. The holes that the wires go through are a real bitch and you'll need to soap them up to get 'em through. They look great and the rack comes off real easy. All things the same, if I had to do it again, I'd just mount the hard mount side plates as I hardly ever take off the seat and rack.

When my brother got hit, I really believe from looking at the bike that the sissy bar gave just that little bit extra support to keep that other bike from hitting him in the low back. His was detachable too and it held up. I'll always leave mine on when I ride for nothing other than that.

I just installed a Haulen *** backrest on my 08 fatboy, it took about 10 minutes to install and goes off &amp\\; on in 5 minutes The product quality is excellent, at 210.00 the price is fair when compared to OEM, I high recommend.&nbsp\\;
