Default My Laydown License Bracket (Tombstone Tail Light)

After looking thru&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;all of the posts concerning the lack of a good laydown license plate bracket for bikes with the tombstone tail light, i decided to put together my own for $65. I also curved it to give it an even better look.

Stainless steel laydown plate bracket from Haulenass.com - $49.95
This&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;bracket is&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;brushed stainless steel and uses the BOTH stock mounting points&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;so it will not break like the cheap ones&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;that only use the tab on top of the light.

Harley #59863-94T Chrome License Frame from my Harley Dealer - $14.95
The reason i bought this one is because it was thin enough to bend so i could match the curve of my fender. I know i could've found one somewhere else for half the price but i was there getting a few other things so i figured why not.

I curved the plate bracket just a little to give it some shape. Its .060" stainless but it wasn't hard to shape. I also curved the plate frame by slowly pushing it around the tank of my compressor. I went slowly so the chrome wouldn't stress and crack. Bolted it all up and it looks great and is solid as a rock. Just thought you guys would want to see it.

Later,
AO

Looks good - I like the curve in it...I installed the Kuryakyn on my bike a few weeks ago to get the curved radius and I love it -

Kuryakyn doesn't make one for the Tombstone tail light or i would've gone that route. Didn't like the Drag Specialties bracket because it was flimsy and i heard stories of them breaking.

Greetings,
&nbsp\\;
Really helps make the bike look better. I debated on going that route before just doing a side-mount plate on mine.

I made a similar bracket for my bike with a piece of aluminum flat stock, but it only uses the two mounting points on top of the light.&nbsp\\; I really like the look of the curve on your plate (I just used a flat chrome backing plate and an HD frame from the dealer).
&nbsp\\;
Question:&nbsp\\; Do they often break?

Yours looks great. You can put a curve in yours if you used a thinner frame like i did. The units from Drag Specialties have been known to break because they are mounted to the tab only and its a big stress point.
