I dont like the heel shifter either. I took it off and put the chrome harley cover on the end of the shaft. Problem is it moves the toe shifter closer in toward frame and I have to force my foot inward. What I did was remove the chrome cover and toe shifter then put the heel shifter shaft w/o the "pedal" on it back on but facing forward like the toe shifter then put the toe shifter back on and it moves it out where its suppose to go.
I believe they make a spacer to put in place of the inboard toe shifter so you can move IT to the outboard position. If not I think I read on the forum about someone using a piece of plastic conduit?

i use the heel shifter all the time and find it easier just kick it down when down shifting steping on it down again but in the front seems pretty easy to me. I tried the toe shifting but its not for me
Just wanted to say your Deluxe is one of the sharpest bikes I've ever seen. Those wheels are just awesome. Perfect.

My wife has the same model and color scheme and I hope she doesn't get any ideas. That would definitely break the bank.

The second time my pant leg got caught on the heel shifter that thing came off! I almost dumped my Fatboy because of it. It does not offer anything that would make me want to chance seeing my bike on the ground. But, it's your bike and your choice............

I took my heal shifter off. Now I have room to move my foot around. Catching my pant leg once was enough for me.

No use for a heel shifter here. Took mine off too.

Jimmers1817, I liked your idea of a spacer better so I made a chrome spacer from a 5/8" socket. I hacksawed it off at 3/4" from the square drive end and the inside hole is the EXACT diameter of the shifter shaft.. Works and looks perfect.

Ready made chrome from a socket. Great idea.

All you guys that complain about the heel shifter being in the way should have bought the Harley Goodies extention kit. It move the boards out away from the shifter arms and you can use all of the board with the shifter.

With that said, the heel shifter does take some getting used to, but if adjusted properly (shifters are just high enough to clear the board when shifting) they are alot easier to use. If you live in the city (like I do) and you do alot of shifting, the heel shifter is the only way to go. Plus you dont **** up your boots either.
