Default Softail Standard Higher Speed buzziness

For you softail standard riders at what speed do start to feel a buzziness start to build in the engine. I ask this because of someone else's post that mentioned this buziness beyond a certain speed. Can anyone say they have experienced this? Thanks for your help. Just trying to gather all the information on this bike, which I think is the one for me.

I have a fatboy..not a standard but same engine etc. I notice a buzz starting around 70-80 on my fatboy but it's not uncomfortable. We are not talking high speed sander vibrate ya know. But, I've ridden sport bikes for years that would make you hands go numb. Good luck on your purchase..great bike. Hope it has the 200mm in it..pretty cool.

There were some posts a while back about itchy nose syndrom. We pretty much concluded that a run at or over 70 mph for a while would cause some vibrations to travel up the back/tail bone and cause a tingly/itchy nose condition. It's true! I'm not making this up. The vibrations are so slight you don't notice them but they show up in the nose. Not everyone would experience them but a lot do.

I ride an 04 standard and also find a slight buzz at 70+. It's not that bad though as it doesn’t seem to bother me but I do feel it. I have changed grips and sometime wear gloves which also seems to reduce this.

My wife's 2001 Heritage gets a little buzzy around 70 to 80 MPH, but it never gets uncomfortable or annoying like the old EVOS, and prior did.

Bill

I would blame the buzzys on the metal motor mounts that the softail use.. The motor is balanced but at higher rpm the balancers cant keep up sort of speak.

All softails do it just get better grips and pegs. I don't notice mine unless i am twisting throttle hard at lower gear. I don't notice mine in fifth gear until about 90.

Yes I get the buzzing on the handle bars at around 80kph+ (50mph) on my 05 standard. Once I get past around 95kph it goes away. The 95" kit and lumpy cams don't help it either. I rode my mates Fatboy last week (he has same mods) and the vibes were nowhere as much. It's not that I feel it that much but see the blurring on the mirrows. I have thick short drag bars on mine and they don't absorb much of the vibes. After riding EVOs for ten years this doesn't worry me, it's ten times smoother - at least I can see from the mirrows. The bike is still new with only 10,000km on it (my mate's was already beded in with 17,000km). I expect some of it will go away as the engine frees up.
