I know, i know, used to have jap bikes...what can I say, but now I've gotta fatboy. Hell ya. Anyway lemme know if theres a good webswite to get them cheaper at or what, cause Im freakin clueless, and I refuse to let let the "stealer" touch my bike yet. Thanks in advance. You guys rule.

Torx head bolts. You can buy the wrenches anywhere, but you'll need a T-27 and those can be hard to find. Pick up a service manual if you plan to do your own work.

And buy top-quality tools, cheap tools will mess up the shoulders and make it look like hell.

Craftsmen offers a good M/C set of tools, sometimes on sale for $80. Just make sure you get all the sizes of TORX wrenches you need. Tool kit only goes to T40, and for my bike seat, I also needed a T45. You can also get TORX sets by themselves.

The T-27 Torx bit is very important. A T-25 may feel like it will work but you will most likey strip out the bolt head on some of the tighter bolts. If the bit feels loose, don't risk it. Most Torx bit sets I've found do not include the T-27. I got my T-27 at Sears.

Lisle tools sells a great set of Torx bits. They can be had from any Sears store. Set includes the infamous T27.

Have fun,
Dave

I must agree with VTTIMWHITE about quality tools. I tried a cheap set from a discount place and luckily the bits got messed up instead of the bolts on the train.

Just remember you get what you pay for!!!

AVOID the Lisle torx bits... I have actually completely twisted those things around working on cars... I have done the same to Craftsman bits but at least those are replaceable for free... The Lisle tools are all ones piece (cast I think) and the Crafstman are two piece tools.... The Craftsman seem to have held up better over the years.

I have a Pontiac Fiero and just about every bolt on that thing is a Torx... including the brakes. Mine get plenty of use... The lisle just could not keep up.
