Only the 96ci engines have the O-ring. All of the TC88 used a cardboard gasket with a rubber stripe around it. I just put the Jack Daniels Old No. 7 Derby cover on my XBones. I just went to the dealership and got the same gasket that I use for my '03 Ultra. Fits and works just fine. Also crisscross as you tighten the bolts and torque them to no more than 10 ft-lbs and you will be fine.

Believe the clutch inspection cover torque is 84-108 inch/lbs. They will strip in no time if you over-torque. Start with the top one and work in a star pattern.

Friend had the same problem. Gasket wasn't included with new Derby cover. HD sells the new flatone for around $5. The existingo ring gasket isn't used.

My dealer said you have to use the solid flat gasket, they do not make the o ring anymore.

That's a fact.

I ended up getting that FLAT carboard type of gasket which had latexon both sides, was a HD part actually, didnt use any Gasket glue. I then just screwed it on carefully this time
Works perfectly, no leaks whatever
Thanks

Okay, the part about not over "torquing" the screws is a NECESSITY! I'm about to place that call to the dealership for a new set of screws. Haven't "stripped" the head yet, but I have installed, taken out, installed, taken out now at least three times, and there is no more "...installed, taken out, installed,...so I'm a gonna start over from scratch. Yeah, it's more money, but "she's" worth it! Thanks for all the great advice all!
