Default 08 0r 09 Softtail custom

I am have been to 3 different dealerships in that past 2 days looking for a softail custom. I thought that with the 09's right around the corner I may get a good deal on an 08. No one is willing to come off of MSRP. And no one has had a black one which is what I want. Ofcourse they said they had one coming in but it will be june before I could get it and still be paying MSRP. Heard it may be worth waiting for the o9's anyway. I live in the cincinnati area and was wondering what you guys thought about this situation. If I am going to buy an 08 dont you think they should bargain a little. And what would be a decent discount?

Thanks

below msrp is very rare. Your difficulty in finding a black custom shows how well they sell at msrp or above. About the only "bargaining" you'll see is a discount on prep fees.

The story I got from my dealer is that harley cut back on production a little to keep the resale value of the bikes up. I was not looking at new so i dont think he stated that to sell me on a bike. He used it as an affirmation on how well the Harley appears to hold its value over other bikes. He said that a few years back they made to many of them and that resale values started to fall so the cut back on production a little.

Even in these times my local dealer appears to have little trouble getting people to buy them so I wouldnt expect much discounting of prices. Kind of like trying to strong arm the gas station to give you a deal.. If you dont buy the gas there are plenty of people behind you that will.

My dealer was loaded with 07's late last summer when I bought my '08. The 07's were still at MSRP then and fora couple moremonthsbefore they finally dropped them a couple thousand.

I got my '06 Deluxe in September of '06 and got them down about $800 from MSRP.The dealers won't move on leftover bikes until they need the floor space for the new models.

About the only ones you see at a discount are the Copper-tops.
