Default springer apes

I'm putting chubby 12.5" apes on my springer classic and want to know if I should stiffen up the bushings in the risers Thanks for any help

Yup. I had a lot of wiggle with mine. I replaced the stock bushings with a set from Good-n-Tight. Drag Specialties part no 7806-1056.

I recommend going a little over the given torque amount when installing. Also, recheck and retighten after you have ridden with tme for a while and things have set and relaxed. For a ballpark number, say 250 miles.

You will need to change all screws and bushings and make sure you use heavy duty. The flex you will get from the springer and the extra force will cause a wobble on the apes

I used to have problems with the bars getting loose and the riser screws getting stripped. I got an Arlen Ness riser conversion to allow me to run standard risers. You'll have a lot more bars and risers to choose from.

+1. I had these on my Springer with my Chubby Apes and they felt like they were welded on. This is the only thing you really need to take care of them.

They are very easy to install...should take about fifteen minutes...Tie off the bars with a bungy cord from the ceiling of the garage or the shed so they don't come falling down..undo the risers, put in the new bushings, bars back on...

Didn't change my bushings when I put my 12.5" bars on b/c I didn't know any better. However, I really don't have a lot wiggle in my bars at all. If I ever change out to 16's, then I am going to swap them, but for now, going on 2 years and no problems (my bike is not a springer though).
