Vertical side mount license plates legal in Pa.?

I ran mine side-mounted & horizontal for over a year and never had any problem.
I've even asked a few LEO's and their answers always amounted to a shrug - the best answer I got was that it would depend on that jurisdiction as to whether they wanted to give you a hard time or not - even if a ticket was unlikely...

Just did some research and PA House Bill 1060 looks to have passed in November 2013. Didn't take the time to read the final bill but it may now be legal.....

It is illegal in UT to have vertical mounted plates and they must be lighted so I got the Roto Plate Jr. and their lighted frame. Not sure if it will work on your bike or not. It is pricey, but worth it to me to make passing inspection easy and if I get pulled over and Leo says anything I can rotate it horizontal in a snap and potentially avoid the cost of a ticket.

According to the PA Vehicle Code (Title 75)
§ 1332. Display of registration plate.
[blockquote]
(a) General rule.--Every registration plate shall, at all times, be securely fastened to the vehicle to which it is assigned or on which its use is authorized in accordance with regulations promulgated by the department.
(b) Obscuring plate.--It is unlawful to display on any vehicle a registration plate which is so dirty as to prevent the reading of the number or letters thereon at a reasonable distance or is otherwise illegible at a reasonable distance or is obscured in any manner.
Looks like you are good to go.[/blockquote]

Vertical mounted plates in Pa.
Check into Act 89. It is a new law for the usage of a vertical license plate in Pa. Use form MV-165 to apply for the new plate to be legal. Your horizontal motorcycle license plate must not be mounted vertically. Good luck if you don't get the new style plate.
