Default Hand grip install

Putting new handgrips on a 07 Heritage. Is it really necessary to use adhesive on the left grip? Kit claimed to include some but didn't. They have the notch and go under the switch housing to avoid slippage. And if I do use adhesive, what can I use?

Thanks

I didn't use any on mine and it has never moved. Some say hairspray works good.

I just installed new bars on my bike yesterday. The left grip was held on by the left control housing. The grip itself has a couple of alignment tabs that fit into the housing so it doesn't move. The service manual does state to use a grip adhesive but it seemed none was used from the factory.

I do believe that HD grips have the recess to prevent the grip from coming off. Most after market ones don't. When I put mine on (Kuryakyn), I tried hair spray but it didn't work. The ISO grips came with glue but I didn't want the hassle if I wanted to change them out at a later date. I put a couple raps of duck tape around the bar and it works best kind.

Thanks, these are Harley replacement grips so I'll go with no adhesive.

Harley are always plugging 'glueless' design. I recently added a set and the old ones (flame) didnt have any adhesive and the new ones did not require an either. Check the HD catalogue it should mention if they are glueless but check the instructions I'd hate to think of it coming off if we're wrong!

go to sports authority or wal-mart and get some grip tape for golf clubs. put it on your bar and spray some wd40 into the new grip so it will slide easily over the tape. the wd40 will disapate quickly and your grip isnt gonna move.

i used krazy glue for my ISO grips on my stock heritage bars.it doesn't budge a bit.now i want apehangers and i may have to use a blow torch or a hand grenade to get the grip off!
